SmartICS Ensures Uninterrupted Operation of Critical Systems at the Primary Aviation Hub in Eastern Indonesia

CustomerInternational Airport, Indonesia
Technology partnerPT Inalix

THE CHALLENGE

The Airport depends on the reliable operation of a wide range of electronic systems to ensure safety, security, and uninterrupted daily operations. Across the terminal, approximately four CCTV units, forty Direct Digital Control (DDC) units for the Building Automation System (BAS), and three Main Control Fire Alarm (MCFA) panels must remain fully operational at all times. To improve efficiency and reduce response time, airport management required a centralized monitoring solution capable of displaying the real-time status of every critical terminal device from a single interface.
However, the existing monitoring platform supported only selected hardware brands, creating significant integration challenges. As a result, maintenance teams were unable to consolidate data from multiple devices manufactured by different vendors into one unified dashboard. This limitation reduced operational visibility, complicated system management, and slowed fault detection. A vendor-independent monitoring solution became essential for improving device interoperability, enhancing situational awareness, streamlining maintenance processes, and ensuring reliable airport infrastructure management.
Аddressing this challenge, PT Inalix implemented the SmartICS platform to connect these diverse devices and bring all status data together onto one unified monitoring dashboard.

CUSTOMER NEEDS

  • Keeping technicians safe from workplace hazards while they monitor or repair dozens of DDC units and Main Control Fire Alarm (MCFA) panels across the terminal.
  • Reducing the risk of operator errors that could trigger false alarms or disrupt the air conditioning and fire detection systems.
  • Reducing troubleshooting time by enabling technicians to locate issues quickly instead of inspecting devices one by one.
  • Detecting early signs of wear and tear in cooling and fire alarm systems before they develop into costly failures.
  • Ensuring uninterrupted passenger services even if an air conditioning unit or a main fire alarm panel experiences a technical issue.

PRODUCT BENEFITS

  • SNMP Protocol Support: Easily connects 40 DDC units, 3 MCFA panels, and CCTV devices from various manufacturers without compatibility issues.
  • Multi-User Access: Allows multiple staff members to access the system simultaneously, making daily monitoring and team coordination much more efficient.
  • Unlimited Tags: Enables users to collect as much data as needed without increasing licensing costs, as licensing is based solely on the number of connected devices.
  • Historical Data Logging: Automatically records device activity, allowing maintenance teams to quickly identify the root cause of any issue.
  • Flexible Dashboard: Provides a customizable interface that can be easily tailored to match the team’s daily workflow.

THE IMPACT

  • Instant Fault Detection and Faster Response. Faults on controllers and equipment are detected and displayed on the operator interface in real time. Maintenance teams can immediately identify the exact fault location and head directly to the affected asset, eliminating the need for time-consuming manual inspections and significantly reducing system downtime.
  • Lower Maintenance Costs with Predictive Monitoring. Continuous real-time monitoring helps identify early signs of equipment degradation before they develop into critical failures. This predictive maintenance approach reduces unplanned downtime, extends equipment lifespan, lowers repair costs, and ensures uninterrupted passenger comfort and operational reliability.
  • Enhanced Field Crew Safety. Before performing on-site maintenance, technicians can remotely verify equipment status, alarms, and operating conditions through the SCADA interface. Real-time diagnostics minimizes unnecessary exposure to hazardous environments, improves maintenance planning, and helps maintain a safer workplace.
  • Predictable Operating Costs. An unrestricted access to operational data from dozens of connected devices without per-tag or per-point licensing fees simplifies system expansion, reduces total cost of ownership (TCO), and enables organizations to plan long-term operational budgets with confidence.

SmartICS for jet fuel accounting
For airports
The movement of jet fuel in a refueling complex requires a single and universal tool for collecting and analyzing data from a variety of systems, including moving equipment.

SmartICS platform allows the company to collect all data, display summary information for the operator and dispatcher, generate reports and transfer data to 1C (local ERM system) for further financial settlements with the company’s counterparties.

Solution and Results
  • A unified accounting system, movement of jet fuel from different measuring systems and terminals was automated
  • Improve quality of decision-making
  • Reduce manufacturing faults
  • Decrease time spent on the process of jet fuel accounting
  • Accelerate labor productivity by automating the process of preparing accounting documentation
  • Increase safety and productivity of employees due to an integrated approach to accounting, collection, storage and analysis of information
