SmartICS 3.4: Devices Connection Templates and Device Widgets and Automatic Database Backup
The updated solution for building industrial automation, telemetry and monitoring systems SmartICS 3.4 is already available upon request on our website. We continue to improve our solution, making it more convenient and easier to configure and use. In the 3.4 release, we expanded the capabilities of working with widgets and connecting typical devices, and added database backup.
Expanding Device Connection Templates
In the new release of SmartICS, we expanded the capabilities of device connection templates. Now, when connecting a new typical device to the system, you can quickly configure it using templates:
address map template - a list of signals and their addresses;
signal setup template - signal aliases, settings, settings for recording in the database, units of measurement (for analog signals), text interpretation of signals (for discrete signals);
dashboard template - creating a dashboard using a premade template with the placement and configuration of all the necessary widgets.
The function allows you to create a library of equipment and connect new standard devices using a template. Using the function of template connection of devices significantly speeds up the creation of standard projects, as well as adding standard equipment to the system, reducing development costs.
Combined Widgets
In SmartICS 3.4, users can group widgets into new template objects. Combined widgets provide standardizing the technological information visualization. Such widgets can be quickly modified and configured, thus reducing the number of possible errors in the system setting. The generated combined template objects with graphics, sensors, and control buttons can be reused in the project on several dashboards. When changing a template object, the changes occur on all dashboards at once. You can also configure each object independently of the original template. Using standardized widget combinations significantly saves time in creating dashboards and visualizing the project as a whole.
When transferring combined widgets to another project, there is no need to reconfigure included elements. Thus, the same combined widget can be used for different projects, which reduces the time it takes to create a new project as well as the number of possible errors in the process of setting up the system.
Widget Display Logic
We have added a function for setting up the display of widgets by condition. For any widget, you can set the display logic associated with the value of the selected signal. The user can turn on or off additional information, switch between different systems on the displayed plans, and switch between different types of data.
Redundancy and Database Synchronization
Starting with the release of SmartICS 3.4, the function of synchronizing data between databases when backing up servers or creating a backup copy of the database is performed by SmartICS. The added function of automatic copying of data between databases increases the reliability of storing historical system data and allows transferring historical data to third-party SQL databases.
Backup databases for projects can now be created without a backup SmartICS server. The user can configure the synchronization depth and get diagnostic information about the synchronization status. To reserve specific information that is not the main one for SmartICS, you can configure the synchronization of selected tables, the synchronization depth, and statistics on database synchronization.
Calling a Dashboard from the Accident Log
In release 3.4, we implemented the ability to quickly switch from the current accident log to a dashboard containing information about the accident. The function allows you to quickly find the necessary information on the event. If the accident parameter is contained on more than one dashboard, the operator sees the entire list of such dashboards and can select the most suitable one for this parameter.
