SmartICS and PNJ Host a Two-Day Industrial Automation Boot Camp

The SmartICS team participated at the boot camp at Jakarta State Polytechnic (PNJ), where students and industry technicians gained hands-on SCADA and PLC expertise through real-time system integration and hardware-to-software data transmission.

Participants in the boot camp held on July 27–28 at the Jakarta State Polytechnic (PNJ) campus gained hands-on experience with SCADA and PLC systems in accordance with industry standards. The event brought together college students and working technicians from the industrial automation sector, creating a dynamic learning environment focused on practical skills development.

Under the guidance of experienced automation technicians, participants moved beyond theoretical concepts to master real-world applications of industrial control systems. The training program was supported by Folks Automation, which supplied Smart PLC units as the primary training equipment, enabling participants to work with industry-relevant hardware throughout the two-day intensive session.

During the boot camp, participants achieved real-time integration by connecting the SmartICS SCADA system with Folks Automation’s Smart PLC units to simulate industrial control system operations. They practiced the complete hardware-to-software data transmission process, tracking sensor data from physical devices through to visual display on the software control screen. The curriculum also covered configuration of industrial communication protocols including Modbus and OPC UA, along with systematic troubleshooting and debugging techniques for common automation system errors.

This training serves as a platform for interaction between academics and industry professionals to deepen their understanding of how to implement SCADA and PLC systems and run digital transformation initiatives in manufacturing facilities.
