Organize an automatic system of collecting energy consumption data at each oil well

The company is engaged in oil extraction and oil preparation. The company already had a SCADA system of oil wells, but the task of the project was to implement a system for tracking and evaluating key energy efficiency indicators (KPI) of field equipment operation. KPI here is a volume of oil produced per unit of energy consumption.

Design and install a single center for collecting technological information (web portal) and present it visually for specialists of the main power engineer service or other enterprise specialized services via remote access with a regular web browser

Provide calculation, tracking, modification, and analysis of energy efficiency indicators at all wells based on the collected data. This helps to make decisions on maintenance, repair, modernization, or suspension of wells operation

Implemented project



To calculate the equipment energy efficiency indicators, we implemented the Energy Accounting System (EAS).

SmartICS software platform collects data from the already existing SCADA system of oil wells (Orion) and installed during the project implementation EAS system.

SmartICS web portal collects energy accounting data from units continuously, as well as data on water and oil consumption of SCADA system, and calculates efficiency indicators of oil production, treatment, and transportation processes, as well as energy efficiency indicators for each oil well.
SmartICS then makes this data available and visual to users of the Chief Power Engineer Service, the SCADA\IIoT Division, and the Mechanized Productivity Department via a regular web browser.

Now about 10 company specialists use data through the SmartICS web portal. And given the SmartICS licensing policy the final license cost will not change by adding new users.

How does it work?

System implementation results


The company Chief Power Engineer notes that the deployment of the EAS system and energy efficiency indicators accounting " improves the management quality, as well as provides production costs reduction generally." The SmartICS web portal implementation "allows us to improve the quality of decision-making and management".



After a year of the system operation, the company's management notes the following important and useful results:
